Here are the top three stories today in Burlington:

  1. The Burlington City Council has voted to allocate nearly $3 million towards addressing homeless needs in Burlington. The funding is coming from federal pandemic relief money. The newly allocated funds will be spent on funding a new position within the city government to coordinate with the homeless population and for a new emergency shelter to be constructed. (U.S. News & World Report)
  2. Burlington Public Works seeks new workers as they are impacted by recent labor shortages. Officials within the department report that without an influx of new employees, services such as snow plowing may be impacted. Sign-on bonuses and other incentives have reportedly not helped the situation. (WCAX)
  3. Burlington's Foam Brewery turns to making wine in addition to their selection of beers. Foam's brewers got the idea for making wine from a 2019 trip to New Zealand. The trip was originally to purchase and find hop supplies but the brewers became enthralled with the grapes grown in the area. Click to link to see how you can get a bottle of the new offering.
