Here are the top three stories today in Burlington:

  1. Yesterday, Governor Phil Scott and the Vermont Outdoor Recreation Economic Collaborative (VOREC) announced the 24 recipients of the $4 million VOREC Community Grant Program. The funding will be used to support outdoor recreation programs as a means of economic recovery and development across the state. The City of Burlington was awarded $300,000 to pilot a no-cost gear and tool rental program, build an urban bike park and wetlands walk, and provide sailing scholarships to local BIPOC youth.   2. A Burlington man has been sentenced to three years in prison for drug trafficking. 21-year-old Ramzi Kori had an outstanding federal arrest warrant when police found 6,850 bags of fentanyl-laced heroin, a loaded handgun, and $2,500 in cash in the front passenger seat of his vehicle. According to government witnesses, Kori had been dealing heroin in the Burlington region since 2020. (Department of Justice)
