Here are the top three stories in Burlington today:

  1. A recent report issued by the American Lung Association has listed Burlington as among the cleanest cities for air quality. The report analyzed the city's air for particle pollution and ozone. Compared to last year's report, Chittenden County maintained its report grade. (Vermont Biz)
  2. The Burlington Police Commission reviewed a recent proposal on Police oversight on Wednesday night. The Commission's members criticized the current proposal draft for being too detailed and limiting transparency. The draft also does not allow the commission to speak to complainants. The commission will review its recommendations next Tuesday before it is sent to the Ordinance Committee. (WCAX)
  3. Governor Phil Scott has signed a new law that allows the City of Burlington to charge carbon taxes. The City will now be able to impose carbon fees on properties that are heated using fossil fuels after voters approve fees on future ballot items. The Governor said he went ahead with the signing since the voters would be the ones deciding the taxes. (Seven Days)
