Here are the top three stories in Burlington today:

  1. A labor shortage coupled with a housing shortage has resulted in some Burlington area employers providing employee housing. The incentive is a tactic used to attract employees from around the country as Vermont's unemployment rate is below the national average of 3.8 percent. Hospitals and ski resorts are the most notable industries using the new hiring tactic. (Burlington Free Press)
  2. An hours-long standoff was kicked off from a simple noise complaint on Friday night. The Burlington Police Department responded to North Winooski Avenue and made two arrests after Thomas O'Halloran, 45-years-old released a dog on first responders. Eric Robins, 36-years-old, was charged with impeding public officers during the incident. (WCAX)
  3. Monthly webinars that highlighted inequities and disparities by the Burlington School District drew national attention by Fox News on Apr. 6, 2022. The coverage sparked a wave of disturbing messages that were aimed at the school district, according to the district's superintendent. Officials with the district alerted the Burlington Police Department about the messages to ensure safety for the students and staff. (vtdigger.org)
