π± Beekeeper Bounces Back + Electric Bill Increase + Waived Bus Fares
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Burlington.

Happy Thursday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know going on today.
First, today's weather:
Rain at times. High: 61 Low: 50.
Here are the top three stories today in Burlington:
- Vermont's BTV Honey seems to be bouncing back after issues earlier this year. Over 15,000 bees were killed when a GMC truck crashed through a row of hives on Jan. 14. Over $17,000 in donations were given by the community after the incident. (NECN)
- The Burlington Electric Department has announced its proposal to increase rates by 3.95 percent for the fiscal year 2023. The increase will appear as a surcharge on bills beginning in August of 2022. The proposal will now be reviewed by the Public Utility Commission. (Vermont Biz)
- Green Mountain Transit will continue offering waived fares for bus rides next year. The waived fees are made possible through state and federal funds. Despite the funding, the waived fares will leave the agency with a deficit in the fiscal year 2024 unless the state subsidizes the agency. (vtdigger.org)
