Bernie Sanders 'Not Ruled Out' 2024 Presidential Run: Report

Sanders ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 and 2020, but he failed to secure it both times.

In a memo sent this week, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders' campaign manager said the 80-year-old Independent from Vermont might be considering a run for president in 2024.

The memo to Sanders allies was originally obtained by The Washington Post and written by Faiz Shakir, a close political adviser to Sanders. In the memo, Shakir makes it clear Sanders is open to a third run for president.

"In the event of an open 2024 Democratic presidential primary, Sen. Sanders has not ruled out another run for president, so we advise that you answer any questions about 2024 with that in mind," the memo reads.

Sanders ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 and 2020, but he failed to secure it both times. He was considered the front-runner in 2020 after wins in the New Hampshire primary and the Nevada caucuses, but his campaign fell apart after President Joe Biden beat him in South Carolina.
