Hello again, Burlington! Important update: You all, as readers, have made the Burlington Daily so successful that it is my honor to announce the next stage of the newsletter. Patch is looking for a local writer and entrepreneur to take the helm of the Burlington Daily. Although I have loved getting to know this community, we want to pass the torch to someone truly local to write about Burlington long term. So if you're interested in earning extra income while making this newsletter a more valuable resource for your neighbors, learn more and apply here.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny. High: 21 Low: 10.

Here are the top three stories today in Burlington:

  1. The City of Burlington has notified the community that it has the opportunity to vote on a bonded debt. The bond would be for $23.8 million to use towards capital improvements and repair projects. The funds would be available for purchasing fire trucks, emergency communication systems, and city facility repairs. Voting will be on Mar. 1 beginning at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 7:00 p.m. (Seven Days)
  2. State lawmakers in Burlington are searching for funding alternatives for transportation. The federal government is providing funding to turn the existing transportation sector into an electrical one but the state will need to provide additional funds to make it work. State lawmakers are looking to fill a $40 million gap that might balloon to a $60 million gap if the funding is not allocated this year. (WCAX)
  3. Visitors to the ECHO Leahy Center in Burlington can learn about electricity at a new exhibit. The Circuit Circus experience allows Burlington children to learn about electrons and electricity in a hands-on environment. The exhibit will run until Mar. 1, 2022. (WCAX)
