Here are the top three stories in Burlington today:
- Burlington has until May 9 to respond to the federal Internal Revenue Service about a 2010 bond issuance. If the city fails to respond, it will lose refundable tax credits associated with the Qualified School Construction Bonds program. The bonds totaled $9.7 million. (Bond Buyer)
- The Burlington Board of School Commissioners has chosen a design for Burlington's newest high school. The board chose "Option C". The plan has a building running parallel to Institute Road with the building divided between the high school and the technical center. The new facility will cost roughly $181.3 million. (Vermont Biz)
- Champlain College students are protesting sexual violence occurring on campus and how the school is handling the issue. The students have walked out of classes while demanding that the administration hold those responsible accountable for their actions. The National Sexual Violence Resource Center reports that 20 percent of women will be sexually assaulted in college while roughly 6 percent of men experience the same. (Local 22/44 News)
