🌱Burlington Indoor Mask Mandate Passes + Sears Lane Still In Use
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Burlington.

Morning, people of Burlington! Danielle Fallon here with the latest Burlington Daily.
First, today's weather:
Breezy and colder. High: 30 Low: 18.
Here are the top stories today in Burlington:
- Over vocal opposition, the Burlington City Council unanimously approved a measure to require masks at retail stores and indoor entertainment venues starting today. Mayor Miro Weinberger said he hopes the new mandate will increase vaccination rates in Chittenden County. Exceptions to the mandate include businesses with a vaccine mandate, schools (which are controlled by school districts), places of worship, anyone under 2, anyone with a medical condition that is complicated or irritated by a facial covering, and anyone with difficulty breathing. (My Champlain Valley)
- It has been over five weeks since the Sears Lane homeless encampment was shut down, yet a number of people are still using the site. Despite the city's eviction order, new structures are popping up, food is still being delivered, and the heat is on. In light of the sudden notice, the encampment is also strewn with trash and personal belongings; current residents of the camp are reportedly fighting to keep it open. (WCAX)
- The editors of the Vermont Almanac are back with a second edition just in time for the holidays. Like last year's first edition, Volume II weaves stories from over 70 Vermonters working the land along with tips for bountiful harvests, new ways to learn sustainability, and tricks of the trade from homesteaders. Vermont Almanac Volume II is available for purchase at local bookstores and online retailers. (WCAX)
