(Patch Media)

Good morning, Burlington! Like many of you, the Patch team is taking some time off to enjoy the holidays, so there will not be a newsletter in your inbox tomorrow. We appreciate your understanding of this slight pause in our schedule, and I will be back on Monday with the next edition of the Burlington Daily! Now, here's everything happening around town today.

First, today's weather:

Not as cold. High: 31 Low: 21.

Here are the top 3 stories in Burlington today:

  1. With high demand for COVID-19 testing, most Burlington locations have already distributed all the antigen take-home test kits that were available for the day. Additional tests will be available today at the Agency of Transportation sites. Two test kits per group will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis; people should plan in advance for high demand and wait times. (Vermont Biz)
  2. The number of homes for sale in Burlington fell to a new all-time low in November, but inventory is expected to pick up in 2022. Notably, the median sale price for single-family homes in the 05408 ZIP code was $365,000 last quarter — 9 percent higher than the median price over the same period last year. Mortgage rates are also expected to rise from around 3 percent to 3.6 percent by the end of 2022. (Burlington Patch)
  3. A University of Vermont study found that Vermont is getting warmer and wetter due to climate change. Across the country in the West, it's also getting warmer and drier, leading to more devastating fires. Some say Vermont's climate outlook, while still problematic, looks better than other parts of the country — leading so-called Climate Migrators to find refuge in Vermont. (WCAX)
