Here are the top 3 stories today in Burlington:
- If you're in need of DIY legal help, there are now new resources that can help Vermonters navigate common legal problems. Vermont Legal Services has launched their "Roadmaps," a series of easy-to-follow tutorials for common civil legal issues, such as getting a temporary restraining order or starting a divorce. VLS says they saw nearly 100,000 Vermonters visit their website last year, indicating high demand for the service. (WCAX)
- Two Burlington police officers were hurt when responding to a report of a disturbance at the downtown bus station. Police were called to the Cherry Street bus station at about 6 p.m. Tuesday where they say a suspect was trying to "break back into the bus." The suspect charged one of the officers, who used a taser that had no effect due to the suspect's multiple layers of clothes. (Titusville Herald)
- Preliminary Vermont deer hunting data has been released, and while numbers are lower than last year, they remain on par with the ten-year average. Vermont Fish & Wildlife experts expect the final tally to be around 15,600 deer, which will provide more than three million servings of local venison. Experts say the decline was expected as they've been working to reduce deer numbers in certain areas to balance them out with the habitat; fewer permits were also issued this year.(WCAX)
