Although I have loved getting to know this community, we want to pass the torch to someone truly local to write about Burlington long term. First, today's weather:

Partly sunny. High: 44 Low: 27.

Here are the top three stories today in Burlington:

  1. Northwest FiberworX and Lamoille FiberNet are working towards providing an open-access fiber network for Burlington residents. According to the executive director with Northwest FiberworX, up to 60 percent of the funding will be coming from state and federal grant sources. So far, more than $300 million has been allocated for increasing broadband access for Vermont residents. (WCAX)
  2. Burlington's Frog Hollow Vermont Craft Gallery has apologized for misconduct by a former manager. An independent investigator determined that Rachel Teachout allegedly treated Misoo Bang poorly but did not have enough evidence to determine it was discrimination. Following the investigation, the art gallery is updating its policies to ensure that a more equitable workplace is achieved in the future. (vs digger.org)
  3. Burlington Bishop Christopher Coyne removed Father Peter Williams from the Holy Family Parish for refusing to receive frequent COVID-19 testing. Father Williams also refused to wear a mask while ministering. The two rules were put in place for pastors who did not want to get vaccinated. The decision to remove Father Williams was announced in a letter on Tuesday. (National Catholic Register)
