π± International Earth Hour + Traffic Jams At BTV + Pharmacy Bill
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Burlington.

Morning, neighbors! It's me again, Danielle Fallon, your host of the Burlington Daily.
First, today's weather:
Cloudy with a stray shower. High: 49 Low: 34.
Here are the top three stories in Burlington today:
- If you see the city go dark tonight from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., there's no need for concern — it may be Burlington residents recognizing International Earth Hour. "The Big Flip" is a global observance in which businesses and residents turn off their lights for one hour on the last Saturday of March, creating awareness of climate change. Burlington Electric is spreading awareness of the event, as well as information on upcoming virtual events on climate change, through social media. (Burlington Free Press)
- As more travelers return to the skies at Burlington International Airport (BTV), some are experiencing delays in security screening. According to Acting Airport Director Nic Longo, BTV is not immune to the nationwide staffing shortages many airports are facing, especially in the morning issues when only one TSA lane may be open. Longo added that a new five-lane TSA screening area is scheduled to open this fall. Until then, spokesperson Daniel Velez reports the airport is working to hire and transfer more staff. (WCAX)
- A bill that could save independent pharmacies was recently passed in the Vermont House. Such pharmacies, including Vermont Family Pharmacy in Burlington's north end, have become increasingly scarce as chain pharmacies dominate the market. On Wednesday, the Vermont House passed a bill that would require increased transparency of drug prices; the legislation would also limit the control pharmacy benefit managers have over pharmacists.
