🌱 Machete Threat At Pine St. Apt + City Market Christmas Trees

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Burlington.

Hey, neighbors! It's me again, Danielle Fallon, your host of the Burlington Daily.

First, today's weather:

A bit of snow. High: 31 Low: 23.

Here are the top stories today in Burlington:

  1. A Burlington man is set to face a judge Tuesday morning after threatening a man with a machete. According to officers with the Burlington Police Department, 39-year-old Sheikhnoor Osman was on the fifth-floor balcony of the victim's Pine Street apartment just before 1:30 a.m. Monday. Osman pulled out the machete from its sheath, reportedly threatening to cut off the victim's head while making motions with the knife. He allegedly continued to bang on the door with the machete with the goal of getting the victim to come outside. (NBC 5)
  2. If you're in need of a Christmas tree, City Market currently has one of the best deals in town: $40 for a Christmas tree, with all proceeds benefiting the Committee on Temporary Shelter. The 750 trees purchased this year to be sold at the two City Market locations in Burlington are going fast. Despite the reported Christmas tree shortage, City Market ordered more trees this year than ever before from Moffatt's Tree Farm. As of Monday afternoon, they were almost gone, and had already sold out at the downtown location. (WCAX)
  3. Due to an increase in COVID cases, UVM Medical Center is changing its rules for visitation. Starting today, only two people may visit a patient for the entire time the individual stays at the hospital; waiting rooms are also closed. Additionally, all visitors must wear a mask at all times, including sleeping visitors who stay the night with their loved ones. (WCAX)
