Here are the top three stories in Burlington today:

  1. A bill that would have allowed Burlington to ban no-cause evictions was vetoed by the Governor on Tuesday. Governor Phil Scott reportedly struck down the bill claiming that it would undermine property owners' rights while stressing the city's housing market. The bill would have prevented landlords from kicking out renters by refusing to renew leases. (Seven Days)
  2. Amtrak will reportedly restore passenger rail services to Burlington this summer. The service has not been offered to Burlington residents in 69 years. The Ethan Allen Express route has been extended north to Burlington and will allow residents to catch the passenger train to New York. (Seven Days)
  3. The Burlington Community Resource Center has relocated to Old North End. The center provides daytime shelter for those in need. The center was previously located on South Winooski Avenue. The city is still working to approve a pod community for the homeless population. (vtdigger.org)
