Here are the top three stories today in Burlington:

  1. A South Burlington Starbucks is the first in Vermont to attempt to unionize. The store located at 580 Shelburne Road will be attempting to unionize with Workers United, an affiliate of the Service Employees International Union. The South Burlington store is the newest store to attempt unionization after a store in Buffalo unionized in December. (vtdigger.org)
  2. The Burlington Police Department is investigating an incident that lead to a gun being fired in Old North End. The incident reportedly began as a fight in the 200 block of North Willard Street on Saturday morning between two men. The department reports that this incident is the sixth involving gunfire this year in Burlington. (WCAX)
  3. The cleanup effort at Lake Champlain enters its second phase. The progress is being monitored by the Environmental Protection Agency with targets of 15 years into the future. According to the agency, the cleanup effort is on schedule but consistent funding for the project will be needed. (WCAX)
