Here are the top three stories in Burlington today:

  1. The Burlington Police Department is searching for a suspect in the Friday morning shooting incident that occurred in Burlington's City Hall Park. Reports indicate that a man displayed a firearm and shot multiple rounds into the air. Thankfully, nobody was injured during the incident. (WCAX)
  2. United States Senator Bernie Sanders and the U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough pledged to improve the state's VA healthcare system during a special press conference outside of the Burlington Lakeside VA Clinic on Thursday. The pledge comes after the two met with Vermont VA staff and patients to determine what the system excels at and what it fails to do. Senator Sanders reportedly wants to see dental care become a part of VA healthcare while expanding high-quality healthcare at the VA community clinic in Burlington. (WPTZ)
  3. Resident Physicians at the UVM Medical Center have decided to unionize after a vote by roughly 350 doctors. The National Labor Relations Board held the historic election at the Burlington hospital. The final vote was 209 doctors voting for the union and 59 doctors voting against it. (Seven Days)
