First, today's weather:
A little a.m. snow, up to 1". High: 25 Low: 9.
Here are the top 3 stories today in Burlington:
- The Burlington Police Union has endorsed Democrat Aleczander Stith in the upcoming Mar. 1 city council elections. Stith is running to be the council member for Ward 7 and has made public safety his top priority, according to the endorsement. Stith has been outspoken in his support for acting Chief Jon Murad, who was not confirmed as the permanent chief by the city council last month. (vtdigger.org)
- Fifty-mile-per-hour winds have damaged South Burlington's new City Hall and library. Six of the building's solar panels were damaged with one completely falling off of the building. The installer of the panels, SunCommon, is working to secure the panels so that future storms will not cause further damage to the panels. The buildings will remain operational while the repairs are made. (WCAX)
- Did you catch the ring Rams safety Taylor Rapp used to propose to his girlfriend after his team won the Super Bowl? It's a Burlington original! Mike Berger, owner of Burlington's Lippa's Estate and Fine Jewelry, created the custom ring for Rapp, who presented it to his now-fiancee Dani Johnson live on television just minutes after the Rams' win Sunday.
