Here are the top 3 stories today in Burlington:

  1. Burlington's winter weatherization program for rentals begins. The program targets energy bill usage through winterizing rental properties and is meant to increase energy performance and building durability. Weatherization companies who will perform the work are currently booked months in advance, sometimes over a year. (WCAX)
  2. Tax relief is being offered to the thousand Burlington homeowners who saw their property taxes increased. The relief is through $1 million of federal pandemic funds and approved through the City Council. Homeowners who qualify through the program can receive up to $2,000 towards property taxes. (WCAX)
  3. The Burlington Mayor has chosen a new permanent police chief. Mayor Weinberger has announced Acting Chief Jon Murad will be appointed to the position permanently. The former Chief resigned two years ago over a social media scandal. (U.S. News & World Report)
