Here are the top three stories today in Burlington:

  1. The University of Vermont Medical Center is building staff housing to solve its severe workforce shortage. The housing will cost roughly $15 million and the medical center is investing $2.8 million towards the construction. According to the center's vice president, the housing is expected to be completed within one year. (WCAX)
  2. Starting today, Locust Street will be closed between Caroline and Shelburne Streets. Traffic will be reduced to one lane on Shelburne Street. There will be flaggers on Shelburne to assist travelers' navigation through the construction zones. The closures and lane reduction are for waterline work that will begin at 9:00 a.m. (Vermont Biz)
  3. The Burlington School Board was presented with conceptual designs and price estimates for the creation of a new high school and technical center. According to a trio of architectural firms, costs are estimated to be between $161 million and $207 million. The school is expected to handle an enrollment of 1,150 students. (WAMC)
