Here are the top three stories in Burlington today:

  1. A bipartisan bill has allocated $150 million in federal funding to upgrade Canadian border crossing in Vermont. Upgrades will be made to travel lanes and renovations for facilities in a modernization effort. The intended goal of the funds is to make the border safer and more efficient for travelers. (WCAX)
  2. A press conference for the Campaign to End Qualified Immunity was held at the Burlington Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop on Church Street on Wednesday. The conference demanded that legislators pass Senate Bill 254 which would protect Vermont citizens' civil rights. Qualified immunity shields law enforcement officers from liability of misconduct.   3. The City of Burlington will suspend its sister city relationship with Yarslavl, Russia. The decision to end the relationship is Mayor Weinberger's response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The sister city relationship was established 30 years ago to exchange student programs and art. (WCAX)
