Here are the top 3 stories in Burlington today:

  1. United States Senator and former Burlington Mayor Bernie Sanders plans a telephone town hall for voters this week. The town hall will take place on Wednesday, Mar. 2 at 5:00 p.m. with all Vermont voters encouraged to participate. The event will be live-streamed on the Senator's Facebook page. (NBC5)
  2. In response to an increase in snowmobile accidents, state agencies are urging the community to practice safety while operating the vehicles. The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department reports that the most common mistake is when riders use the vehicles above their ability level and appropriate speed. Authorities estimate snowmobile season to continue until Apr. 15. (WCAX)
  3. Rebekah Thomas, a teacher at John J. Elementary School, has donated an organ to someone in need for the second time. The first portion of her liver was donated in 2019 with the second portion of the same organ being donated 14-months later. Both donations were to individuals that Thomas had not met. Thomas plans to climb Mount Kilimanjaro on Mar. 10 to celebrate World Kidney Day. (WCAX)
