Here are the top three stories today in Burlington:
- Mayor Miro Weinberger has released a statement regarding the recent vandalism at Pride Center of Vermont. The city is reportedly investigating the incident. Mayor Weinberger states that "acts of hate have no place in Burlington." (City of Burlington, VT (.gov))
- Students at the University of Vermont are protesting for the university staff to receive a fair contract. The UVM Staff United union is currently in negotiations with the the university to receive higher wages. The protesting students have pitched tents on campus and have vowed to camp until a fair contract has been reached. (WCAX)
- The Burlington City Council has approved a $45 million Champlain Parkway construction contract. The council vote was unanimous. The federal government will be paying 95 percent of the project's cost while the city is paying for roughly two percent of the final cost. The final three percent is being paid by the state.
