• Colchester Food Shelf seeks food and monetary donations so families can choose their own protein for Thanksgiving (colchestersun.com) — Colchester residents are being asked to help the local Community Food Shelf at 242 Main Street fund $15 grocery gift cards so families can choose their own Thanksgiving protein instead of receiving only turkeys. The shelf, now serving about 180 households a month, will also host a donation day on Saturday, Nov. 14 and is seeing more families with children, seniors on fixed incomes, and neighbors quietly helping one another.
   

• Drivers Treat Roundabouts Like Brussels Sprouts — Until They Try One (compassvermont.com) — Colchester drivers recently got a preview of the new Exit 16 diverging diamond interchange when VTrans set up a simulator at the Champlain Valley Fair, helping locals practice the unusual left-side traffic pattern. The piece uses Bennington's new peanut-shaped roundabout to explore why communities often resist roundabouts at first, then grow to support them as safety and traffic flow improve.
