Montpelier Police Log: Suspicious raccoons, public drinking reported (timesargus.com) — Recent Montpelier police calls included public drinking on Main Street, drug activity, vandalism, and a driver illegally passing a school bus with red lights flashing. Officers also handled lost wallets and phones, suspicious raccoons on Charles Street, a water main break on Elm Street, and complaints about loud PorchFest music and encampments on public land.
2. Roundup: Unbeaten U-32 clobbers Mount Abraham, 8-1 (timesargus.com) — Montpelier sports fans have plenty to follow as the Solons' field hockey team fell 2-0 to Milton, while the girls soccer squad rolled past Lyndon 5-1 behind a freshman hat trick. The roundup also includes U-32 and other regional results, plus key details on when Montpelier teams next host home games this Friday and Saturday.
3. Paine Mountain School District considers high school consolidation plan (wcax.com) — A proposed Paine Mountain School District plan could close Northfield and Williamstown high schools and send students as tuitioned pupils to regional options like Montpelier High School, about 20 minutes away. Officials say the change would expand classes and sports, but it still needs state approval and local votes, so Montpelier families may soon see more students commuting into town.

VT Employee Ownership Task Force officially launches (mychamplainvalley.com) — State leaders met in Montpelier to launch a new Vermont Employee Ownership Task Force aimed at helping small-business owners sell to their workers instead of closing when they retire. Amidst rising prices, new report analyzes energy affordability in Vermont (vermontbiz.com) — A Montpelier-based nonprofit has released a new report detailing how rising fossil fuel prices are driving up Vermonters' energy bills, even as electricity remains relatively affordable. For Montpelier residents, the findings underscore the benefits of weatherization, heat pumps, wood heat, and electric vehicles as longer-term ways to cut costs and keep more energy dollars circulating in Vermont's economy.
