Popular Grocery Chain Recalls Dessert That May Contain Glass; VA Stores Affected

The popular grocer Aldi has recalled a dessert that "may contain foreign objects," specifically glass.

The Quebec-based manufacturer Lactalis Canada issued a recall for vanilla creme brulee sold exclusively by Aldi, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The dessert is packaged in glass jars.

Aldi, which is headquartered in Batavia, Illinois, sold almost 2,900 cases of the potentially contaminated product, the FDA reported.

The potentially contaminated desserts had a use-by date of May 9. The item's barcode was 4099100342826.

The recalled desserts were sold in seven states: Illinois, Indiana, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, New York and Virginia.

The desserts are not the only Aldi product under recall. Frozen pizzas sold at Aldi, in addition to Walmart, were affected by a recent recall of meat and poultry products with dairy ingredients that may be contaminated with salmonella.
