This Local Chain Serves Up The Best Tacos In VA, New List Says

When deciding where to spend their Taco Tuesdays, one local chain stands out to Virginia diners, according to a new list.

The writers at Only In Your State recently compiled their picks for the most unforgettable taco spot in each state.

To do this, the writers combed through the publication's archives and consulted local experts to find the 50 best spots that truly deliver, from the longtime legends to the family-run gems to the under-the-radar favorites that locals return to again and again.

In Virginia, that spot is Bamba Tacos, which has multiple locations across the D.C. region.

"The Robinson ramen taco is the signature: noodles, soy-marinated carnitas, salsa, sweetcorn, scallions, and Japanese spices in a tortilla that somehow makes perfect sense. It shouldn't work. It absolutely works," Only In Your State wrote. "A rotating monthly special keeps even the regulars surprised."

Founded in Falls Church, Va. in 2013 by Chef Victor Albisu, Taco Bamba is a wildly popular chain of taquerias that has developed a cult following for its counter-culture brand, according to its website. The eatery is also known for offering a unique menu at each location tailored to its neighborhood.

Taco Bamba has appeared in several Virginia and D.C.-area rankings, “best of” lists and dining guides over the years, including Northern Virginia Magazine, which said Taco Bamba has some of the best tacos in NoVA.

"This local chain has spent the last 10 years creating more mouthwatering tacos than we could dream up," Northern Virginia Magazine wrote. "Try one-of-a-kind tacos like Fairfax’s Granddaddy Fish OG served with crispy grouper, poblano cream, and baja slaw; or Shirlington’s Red, which comes with corn-crusted crispy shrimp, mango slaw, and sweet corn aioli."
