A man was rescued from the bottom of a ravine after an ATV crash in Fincastle, in Botetourt County, on Saturday.
The Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department reported that they received a call about an ATV accident with injuries at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday. Crews dispatched to the 1700 block of Stone Coal Road found that an ATV and river had fallen from the road into a steep ravine.
Crews set up a rope rescue system to extricate the driver from the embankment. They were eventually able to haul the patient up and send them for further medical care.
The firefighters thanked local restaurant Tizzone Winebar for its understanding when crews had to abandon their dinners there when they got the alert.
