Officials highlighted safety efforts, from Vision Zero street changes to resumed school-zone speed cameras and a new state-mandated bell-to-bell phone ban.

2. Property owner wants to build six townhouses in Old Town bank parking lot (alxnow.com) — Six new three-story townhomes are being proposed for the parking lot behind the Wells Fargo at 330 N. Washington Street in Old Town Alexandria. The owner, Merion Group, will go before the Board of Architectural Review in September to seek approval for replacing most of the rear parking and two drive-thru lanes with garage-equipped, rooftop-terrace units.

3. D.C. man faces felony charge after alleged $1K Old Town yoga store theft (alxnow.com) — A D.C. man is facing a felony grand larceny charge after police say he stole more than $1,000 in clothing from Alo Yoga on King Street in Old Town Alexandria. 4. No Driveway? Alexandria Is Bringing EV Charging Closer to Home (thezebra.org) — Alexandria is expanding its Plug In Alexandria grants and new curbside EV charging program to help residents of condos, apartments, and historic rowhouses charge electric vehicles without private driveways. Multi-unit communities, nonprofits, and places of worship can apply for up to $15,000 toward shared chargers by Sept. 21, while residents can also request publicly accessible curbside chargers on neighborhood streets.

5.
