The Royal Restaurant Alexandria: A New Chapter for an Old Favorite (thezebra.org) — Alexandria diners can now revisit a reimagined Royal Restaurant in Old Town, where a 120-year legacy has been updated with a modern American menu and refreshed space. Chef Brandon Whitestone blends longtime favorites with inventive new dishes and desserts, turning the historic spot into a livelier destination for brunch and dinner while honoring its deep local roots.
3. ICE Lodges Detainer for Man Charged in Fatal I-270 Crash That Killed Mother and Daughter (mocoshow.com) — An Alexandria woman and her mother from Burke were killed in an August 29 wrong-way crash on I-270 in Montgomery County, Maryland, that also injured two relatives. Federal officials say the Salvadoran driver, now facing manslaughter and impaired driving charges, is the subject of an ICE detainer as Maryland State Police continue investigating the five-hour shutdown collision.
4. Bridging Ground: A New Documentary Follows the Virginia Theological Seminary Reparations Program (thezebra.org) — Alexandria residents are at the heart of a new documentary premiering Sept. 11 at Virginia Theological Seminary, spotlighting its reparations program for descendants of enslaved and underpaid Black workers.
