ANNANDALE, VA — An Annandale man was sentenced Thursday to five years and four months in federal prison for possessing a controlled substance with the intent to distribute it and possessing a firearm in connection with drug trafficking, according to federal prosecutors.
Tyrice Stanton, 37, was sentenced in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Court records identified the substance as N-isopropyl butylone, commonly called “boot.”
Law enforcement officers searched Stanton’s home May 2, 2024, under a warrant, according to court documents. Investigators reported finding 36 individually packaged bags of boot and a larger package in Stanton’s bedroom. The packages contained a total of 41.63 grams.
Investigators also recovered a privately made firearm equipped with an extended magazine and laser light, another handgun, ammunition, four ammunition magazines and brass knuckles, prosecutors said.
After Stanton was charged with armed drug trafficking and released, he was photographed possessing a rifle on May 22, 2024, according to court documents. Investigators executing another search warrant June 26, 2024, found Stanton with another handgun, prosecutors said.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ Washington Field Division and the Fairfax County Police Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ronald L. Walutes Jr. prosecuted it.
