• Community groups: Fix Gallows Road traffic issues before approving new housing (annandaletoday.com) — Neighbors near Gallows Road by Woodburn Elementary are pushing Fairfax County to require two new traffic lights before approving a 32-home development on what they call Mason District's most dangerous crossing. With a Planning Commission hearing set for Oct. 7, Annandale-area residents say signals at Aston Street, Hemlock Drive, and the project's access road are essential to protect walkers and drivers.
• Alexandria apartment rents follow cyclical norms, cooling with the fall temperatures (alxnow.com) — Annandale renters are paying a median of about $2,184 a month, as Fairfax County and Alexandria rents cool slightly heading into the fall. Local prices remain below recent peaks but still high compared with pre‑pandemic levels, while national analysts say vacancy rates are tightening and different metro areas are moving in very different directions.
