Daniel’s Boutique, located in the Crystal City Shops, is one of 80-plus businesses at this year's Crystal Couture fashion show and sale.
Nasrin Rashidi, who owns the boutique, first opened her shop in 1984 in Alexandria and moved six years later to the current location at 1627 Crystal Square Arcade.
The boutique offers wardrobe consulting and custom tailoring in addition to its clothing selections.
“We have a very classic style, but we do cater to three generations,” Rashidi told Patch. “We want to have clothes that can go from being causal to office to going out.”
Daniel’s Boutique carries various brands including Terani Couture, Belldini, Issue New York, Exclusively Misook and Alberto Makali. This season, they are focused primarily on weddings and parties, but still carry all-season attire, including fur.
“We get people from out of town so we carry all-weather items all the time,” said Rashidi, pointing to the racks of fur surrounding her kiosk.
Rashidi is participating in Crystal Couture a second time in order to attract a younger clientele to her store and to get a glimpse of the different styles offered by other businesses.
She said she has noticed the current trend of "bling" and sparkles on fashion and accessories. She wants to incorporate a light version of that into her shop.
“We need to reach out to Crystal City,” Rashidi said. “We want them to know where we are.”
Daniel’s Boutique will be at Crystal Couture, at 251 18th St., from 6 to 10 p.m. nightly through Saturday. The event is free, and clothing is available for purchase.
