ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington police are seeking petitions against a juvenile male suspect after a reported brandishing incident Monday evening on the Washington and Old Dominion Trail near South Park Drive at South Aberdeen Street.
Officers were dispatched at about 7:15 p.m. to investigate the report of a suspicious person. When officers arrived, it was determined that two people were walking on the trail when they observed the suspect, described as a juvenile male in his teens.
Police reported that the suspect waved a firearm at the victims before fleeing the scene on foot. No injuries were reported in the incident.
A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers located an individual on the trail who matched the suspect description, according to police. The person was wearing a mask when officers took him into custody.
During the investigation, police recovered a firearm with an altered serial number from the suspect, according to the incident report. Police sought petitions for the juvenile male suspect on two counts of brandishing, along with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a juvenile, altering the serial number of a firearm and wearing a mask in a public place.
