ARLINGTON, VA — Barnes & Noble will reopen its Clarendon bookstore in Arlington on Wednesday, May 6, at The Crossing Clarendon, the company announced in a press release. The store is at 2800 Clarendon Blvd. #2000, on the upper level of the space it previously occupied, next to Sephora.
The bookstore is scheduled to open to the public at 10 a.m. Eastern. Author Sam Kean is set to take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and sign copies of his book, “Dinner with King Tut: How Rogue Archaeologists Are Recreating the Signs, Sounds, Smells and Tastes of Lost Civilizations,” according to the release.
Barnes & Noble said the Arlington store has been remodeled and now offers nearly 14,000 square feet of books, toys, games, magazines and gift items. The company said the Clarendon location is one of two new Barnes & Noble locations opening that day, with another opening in Seattle.
The Clarendon store also joins recently opened Barnes & Noble locations in Georgetown and on F Street in the Washington, D.C., according to the release. Barnes & Noble said it is one of seven new stores opened in Virginia over the last several years.
“Today we celebrate the reopening of our wonderful Clarendon store, nearly one year after its closing," James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble, said. "We are delighted to welcome our customers back to enjoy this beautiful new store. This marks one of four Barnes & Noble store openings this month.”
Store Manager Shawn Marshall said in the release, “We were a core part of the community in Clarendon, so it’s been fun to feel the excitement from our readers and neighbors as we get ready to reopen. It's thrilling to open another new store with fresh fixtures, amazing assortment, and a thoughtful, cohesive layout and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back just in time for summer reading season.”
Barnes & Noble said premium and rewards members will earn double stamps on purchases made from May 6 through May 10. Visitors during the grand opening will have access to discounts including $50 off NOOK devices and 40 percent off DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD movies.
