Detectives began investigating Lofzewski after receiving a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, police said. The tip indicated that Lofzewski had posted online content regarding minors, according to police.

During the investigation, police said Lofzewski communicated with detectives who were posing online as a minor, engaged in inappropriate conversations and solicited sexual encounters.

Lofzewski worked as a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Department from 2019 to 2022 and the Arlington County Police Department from 2022 to 2025, police said. At the time of his arrest, he was employed as a mental health associate at Rivermont Schools in Lorton, according to police.

Anyone with information about the case, or related cases, is asked to contact the Fairfax County Police Department’s Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 4. Anonymous tips may be submitted through Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS or online through Fairfax Crime Solvers, police said.
