Arlington Crime Falls For First Time Since 2018 In 2025 Police Report (patch.com) — Arlington’s newly released 2025 police report shows the first overall crime drop since 2018, driven by sharp declines in property offenses like motor vehicle thefts and larcenies. Residents will also notice more traffic enforcement, expanded school-zone and red-light camera programs, and a steep reduction in opioid-related incidents, even as injury and fatal crashes and DUI arrests rose. The county is boosting police starting salaries to address ongoing staffing challenges.
2. National Landing BID Marks 20 Years With New Brand Identity (patch.com) — National Landing’s business district is marking 20 years by unveiling a new brand identity that highlights Crystal City, Pentagon City and Potomac Yard as a growing innovation hub within Arlington. Local leaders celebrated the area’s transformation, honored key contributors and pointed to projects like the planned CC2DCA pedestrian bridge to strengthen connections to Reagan National Airport and support future growth.
3. Person Struck By Metro Train At Northern Virginia Station (patch.com) — Blue and Yellow Line riders in Arlington faced hours of disruption after a person described by Metro as a trespasser was struck by a train at the Pentagon station Wednesday morning. Service was single-tracking between L’Enfant Plaza and Pentagon City, with Yellow Line trains shortened, before normal operations resumed around 3 p.m.
4. Portneuf Air Rescue and Moving Honors pay tribute to fallen EMS heroes (localnews8.com) — A cross-country Moving Honors procession for fallen EMS workers will conclude with a Weekend of Honor in Arlington on July 19. The journey carries a Tree of Life bearing the names of 37 professionals lost in the line of duty, which will be unveiled at the national memorial service.
