Driver Flees Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash Involving Pedestrian In Seven Corners

ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington man has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a Falls Church pedestrian in Seven Corners, Fairfax County police said.

Hein Quang Le, 63, of Arlington, turned himself in Sunday at the Mason Police Station, where he was interviewed by detectives, according to police. Le was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with felony hit and run. He was held without bond.

The charge stems from a May 26 crash at Arlington Boulevard and Patrick Henry Drive. Police said Jose Jimenez, 60, of Falls Church, was crossing Arlington Boulevard in a crosswalk but against the pedestrian signal when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle. Jimenez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives later determined the vehicle involved was a 2004 silver Honda Civic, police said. The vehicle left the scene before officers arrived.

Le was arraigned Monday morning in Fairfax County General District Court and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 2 p,.m. on Sept. 1, according to court documents. He remains in police custody.

Failing to stop for an accident involving injuries is a Class 5 felony. If Le is convicted on this charge, he faces a potential sentence of one to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $2,500, under the Code of Virginia.
