ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington woman's lunch break turned into a $1.7 million windfall when she played an online Virginia Lottery game, according to lottery officials.
The woman won a $1,727,474 prize playing MONOPOLY Super Spin, an online instant game featuring a progressive jackpot. She chose to remain anonymous, as permitted under Virginia law.
"Never in my lifetime did I imagine this happening," she told lottery officials.
After seeing that she had won, the woman called her husband over to look at the screen.
"You're lying! You're lying!" he responded, according to the lottery. Neither initially could believe what they were seeing.
The odds of winning any prize in MONOPOLY Super Spin are 1 in 3.88, although the lottery did not provide the odds of winning the jackpot. Players must be at least 18 years old and physically located in Virginia to purchase lottery games online.
