Arlington Man Charged With Peeping Had Been Arrested The Day Before

ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington man accused of peering into a woman's residence Sunday afternoon had been arrested in a separate incident one day earlier, according to Arlington County police and court records.

Jose Campos Rivera, 37, of Arlington was arrested Sunday and charged with peeping after officers responded around 1:40 p.m. to investigate a suspicious person report in the the 2500 block of Washington Boulevard, police said.

A woman told police she was inside her residence when she saw a man peering inside. Officers broadcast a description of the suspect, and responding officers found a man matching that description near the scene, according to police. He was taken into custody without incident.

Arlington General District Court records show Campos Rivera was charged under Virginia Code Section 18.2-130(A) with peeping into a dwelling through a door. The Class 1 misdemeanor lists Aug. 30 as both the offense and arrest date. Court records showed him in custody as of Monday and listed the Arlington Public Defender's Office as his attorney.

Separate Arrest One Day Earlier

Court records show Campos Rivera had been arrested Saturday in connection with a separate incident that occurred on Friday.

In that case, he was charged with entering or setting in motion a vehicle, which is a Class 1 misdemeanor. He was released on his own recognizance.

The court records provided to Patch do not contain a narrative describing the circumstances surrounding that earlier charge.

An arraignment in the vehicle case was continued Monday, with another arraignment scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday.

In the peeping case, Monday's arraignment was continued and an adjudicatory hearing was scheduled for Oct. 13 at 9:30 a.m. in Arlington General District Court.

The charges are allegations, and Campos Rivera is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
