ACPD: Woman carjacked near Rosslyn (arlnow.com) — Arlington County police are investigating a carjacking that happened Monday evening on 19th Street N. in Colonial Village, where a man threatened a woman and stole her Volkswagen Tiguan. It's the second reported carjacking in Arlington this summer, following a July incident in Cherrydale, and officers are still searching for the suspect described in the latest case.
2. Arlington Blood Drive Seeks Donors Before Labor Day Weekend (thezebra.org) — Arlington residents can donate blood this Friday, Sept. 4, at Fire Works Pizza in the Court House neighborhood, where Inova's Bloodmobile will be parked from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Appointments are encouraged, a photo ID is required, and eligible donors receive a $10 e-gift card while helping meet critical blood needs across the region.
3. Neighbor who filmed deadly Arlington explosion transforms blast site into luxury homes (dcnewsnow.com) — Arlington's Bluemont neighborhood is seeing new life where a deadly 2023 home explosion once left a painful gap, as the neighbor who filmed the blast has built three large houses on the combined lots. Two of the luxury homes are now for sale, while he plans to move his family into the third, openly acknowledging the site's history to potential buyers.
4. Saint Ann Fall Festival (arlnow.com) — Arlington residents are invited to the Saint Ann Fall Festival on Saturday, September 26, featuring a morning fun run, rides, inflatables, bingo, raffles, and a lively beer garden. The free-admission event highlights Saint Ann's diverse Catholic community with Filipino, Latino, Peruvian, and local foods plus live music and dance performances, and will be held rain or shine.
5. Engineers oversized stormwater systems, built in redundancy, and emphasized water efficiency, creating a high-tech hub that quietly protects research spaces, nearby infrastructure, and the surrounding Arlington community from flooding risks.
