ARLINGTON, VA — A 65-year-old man was arrested Monday evening after police said he entered an Arlington business from which he had previously been banned and struck an officer who responded to the scene.
Arlington County Police were dispatched just befor 7 p.m. Monday, to the 1300 block of North Courthouse Road for a citizen assist. Police said Charles Lebleu, of an undetermined address, had entered a business despite previously being banned from the property.
Officers located Lebleu at the scene and gave him commands that he ignored, according to police. During the encounter, Lebleu struck one of the officers before police took him into custody, authorities said. The officer did not report any injuries.
Lebleu was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, trespassing after having been forbidden from the property and public intoxication. Arlington General District Court records classify the assault charge under Virginia Code § 18.2-57(C) as a Class 6 felony. The trespassing charge is a Class 1 misdemeanor, while the public intoxication charge is a Class 4 misdemeanor.
Court records show Lebleu remained in custody Wednesday. He was represented by the Arlington Public Defender's Office on the felony assault and trespassing cases.
A bond hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, in Arlington General District Court. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Oct. 15.
Court records also show Lebleu faced trespassing and public intoxication charges in Fairfax County stemming from an April 12 incident. Prosecutors declined to pursue both charges in July. In a separate Arlington case, Lebleu was charged with public intoxication in December 2025; court records show that case was prepaid, with a $25 fine and $91 in costs.
