Alexandria Man Threw Bricks At Occupied Arlington Home, Police Say

ARLINGTON, VA — An Alexandria man was arrested Sunday after police said he threw bricks at an occupied Arlington home and later fled from officers who attempted to stop him.

Arlington County police responded around 10:30 p.m. Saturday to a reported burglary in the 1900 block of South Lowell Street in the Green Valley area.

Officers determined a male suspect had allegedly thrown bricks at the home of a woman known to him while she was inside, causing property damage, according to police.

Responding officers saw the suspect outside the residence, but police said he got into a vehicle and drove away.

Police Say Driver Eluded Traffic Stop

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle near South Kenmore Street and 24th Street South, but the driver eluded them, according to police.

Investigators later identified the suspect and obtained warrants.

Benito Loayes Augustin, 32, of Alexandria, was arrested Sunday and charged with throwing a missile into an occupied dwelling, eluding and destruction of property, police said.

Augustin was being held without bond.
