WASHINGTON, DC — An 18-year-old Arlington man was arrested Tuesday in connection with an armed carjacking and a separate pistol-whipping in Washington, D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Jehvae Armani Boone, 18, of Arlington, was arrested Tuesday by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, police said.
Boone was charged with armed carjacking and assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with two incidents that occurred several weeks apart, according to MPD.
The first occurred around 11:45 p.m. on June 24 in the 600 block of Parkside Place Northeast. Police said suspects approached a victim's vehicle, displayed firearms and demanded that the victim get out.
The suspects then fled in the victim's vehicle before officers arrived, according to police.
On July 13, officers responded around shortly after 11 a.m. to the 300 block of Anacostia Road Southeast to investigate the report of an assault.
Police said a suspect assaulted the victim by striking them with a firearm before fleeing the area. MPD described the alleged assault in announcing Boone's charge as a "pistol whipping."
Police did not provide information about injuries to either victim or say what evidence investigators used to identify Boone as a suspect.
The armed carjacking remains under investigation. Police asked anyone with information about the case not to take action but instead call MPD at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411.
MPD offers a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person or people responsible for a violent crime in Washington.
Boone has been charged, and the allegations against him have not been proven in court.
