Today's riddle: How do billboards talk? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Arlington Teacher Sues School Board, Claiming Religious Discrimination, Retaliation (patch.com) — An Arlington-connected teacher has filed a federal lawsuit against the Arlington County School Board, alleging religious discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliatory assignments after conflicts over LGBTQ+ inclusion efforts at Wakefield High School. The complaint, which has not been proven in court, challenges how Arlington Public Schools handled his reassignment to a warehouse and subsequent transfers, and seeks damages plus policy changes within the school system.
2. Arlington County Sues To Block Trump's Triumphal Arch Near National Cemetery (patch.com) — Arlington County is taking the Trump administration to federal court to stop a 250-foot triumphal arch planned near Arlington National Cemetery, arguing it would snarl traffic and slow emergency response. County officials say the National Park Service skipped a full environmental review, overlooking impacts on Arlington residents, airport safety, historic views and local police and fire operations. The lawsuit seeks to halt construction until a more thorough study of alternatives and risks is completed.
3. Armed Forces Cycling Classic joins international calendar with expanded Arlington route (arlnow.com) — Next June, the Armed Forces Cycling Classic will bring an internationally sanctioned pro race directly through Arlington, with riders crossing the 14th Street Bridge and looping Crystal City, Pentagon City, and Rosslyn. The expanded 20-kilometer course and new UCI Category 1.2 status are expected to draw more elite teams and media attention, while familiar events like the Clarendon Cup and Challenge Ride remain on the weekend schedule.
4. 2027 Summer Intern, Energy Researcher (Reston, VA; Arlington, VA) (monmouth.edu) — A paid 10‑week energy research internship is planned for summer 2027 with hybrid work based out of Arlington or Reston, giving local students hands-on experience with energy programs, data analysis, and policy-focused projects. Applicants need at least 30 college credits in related fields and must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, but should note that housing or relocation assistance is not provided.
