ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington residents looking for an opportunity to help save lives can roll up their sleeves Saturday when St. Michael's Episcopal Church hosts a community blood drive.
The church is partnering with Inova Blood Donor Services for the event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.
The Inova bloodmobile will be parked along 11th Road North near the church, located at 1132 N. Ivanhoe St. in Arlington.
Residents can schedule a donation appointment online or call Inova Blood Donor Services at 866-256-6372.
Inova also offers same-day donations at its mobile blood drives, although residents should contact the organization to confirm availability for Saturday's event.
Inova recommends that donors eat a nutritious meal and drink plenty of fluids before giving blood.
Donors should also bring a photo ID that includes their photograph and date of birth.
Anyone planning to donate should review Inova's blood donation eligibility requirements to determine whether they qualify.
Additional tips, including what to expect during the donation process, are available through Inova's donation preparation guide.
