ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington man was arrested Thursday after police said he approached an officer while holding large rocks, fled the scene and resisted arrest.
Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person near North Key Boulevard and North Cleveland Street around 12:32 p.m.
When an officer arrived, he found a man acting erratically while holding large rocks, police claimed. The man ignored the officer's commands before approaching a second officer who had just arrived.
Police said the man then fled on foot, leading officers on a chase. When officers caught up with him, he resisted their attempts to detain him, prompting police to use pepper spray and take him into custody.
Medics evaluated the man at the scene before police arrested him.
Police identified the man as Latrell Keller, 23, of Arlington. He was charged with assault on a police officer and obstruction of justice.
