ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington store employee was pushed to the ground after confronting a group of juveniles suspected of trying to steal merchandise on Monday, according to police.
Police said 11 juveniles entered a business in the 3300 block of Columbia Pike around 9:43 p.m. and attempted to conceal merchandise. When an employee confronted the group, two juveniles pushed her to the ground.
Officers detained the group nearby, but filed no charges at the time. The investigation is ongoing.
Businesses on the block that shoplifters typically target include a CVS and an Exxon gas station, police said. Authorities did not specify which business was targeted.
According to police data, Arlington police have made 621 arrests for shoplifting this year. That figure does not include incidents that did not result in an arrest.
