10 Loudoun Co. Schools To Participate In Walk To School Day
Nearly 3,600 students and their families have registered to participate in this international effort to reduce traffic around schools.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA ā Ten Loudoun County elementary schools will participate Wednesday in International Walk to School Day, an international effort to reduce traffic around schools as well as lessen the environmental impact associated with commuting to school. Nearly 3,600 students and their families have registered to participate this year, according to a release.
International Walk to School Day involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day to raise awareness for the year-round Safe Routes to School movement. The following Loudoun County elementary schools are participating Wednesday:
- Ashburn Elementary School, Ashburn
- Catoctin Elementary School, Leesburg
- Creightonās Corner Elementary School, Ashburn
- Dominion Trail Elementary School, Ashburn
- Hillsboro Charter Academy, Hillsboro
- Hillside Elementary School, Ashburn
- Pinebrook Elementary School, Aldie
- Rosa Lee Carter Elementary School, Ashburn
- Sugarland Elementary School, Sterling
- Tolbert Elementary School, Leesburg
International Walk to School Day began in 1997 as a one-day event and became the signature fall event for Safe Routes to School. Today, thousands of schools across America participate in a variety of ways every October.
