2,300 Dominion Energy Customers In Loudoun Lose Power On Monday

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — More than 2,300 Dominion Energy customers in Loudoun County lost power on Monday afternoon, according to the company's website. The outages resulted in five different projects around the county.

Timelines to restore power varied greatly depending on the affected area. One outage in Lansdowne had an estimated restoration time between 9 p.m. on Monday and 2 a.m. on Tuesday. More detailed information and timelines are available on Dominion's website.

Loudoun County, along with several other jurisdictions around the area, was under a severe thunderstorm warning on Monday afternoon.

Monday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. High near 82. Southwest wind 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Monday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 p.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 57. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 79. West wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
